MS Omar Khayan: out of the fleet, and the Nile's most sellable fact

Three concordant checks as at 25 August 2026: no departures in our catalogue, absence from the roster Viking publishes, absence from the master list verified against the company's own pages.

    Twelve ships on the Nile

The master list, verified ship by ship, records twelve Viking units on the Nile, several delivered recently and one announced for later. It is the company's second basin after Europe, by a wide margin.

The sister-ships in that series carry 82 guests to 48 crew, or one crew member for every 1.71 guests. On a European Longship the ratio is 3.58: there is therefore more than twice the staff per traveller on the Nile as between Basel and Amsterdam.

Two ships where the crew outnumbers the guests

This is the figure we found most striking in the entire Viking file, and it is verified.

Viking Ra carries 52 travellers and 55 crew. MS Antares carries 62 to 75. In both cases there are more people serving than people served.

No ocean ship comes near that. The densest in the Royal Caribbean fleet, Harmony of the Seas, runs around 2.38 guests per crew member. This is not a matter of advertised luxury: it is a structural difference of format, and it shows at the first meal.

What we do not sell yet

None of those twelve ships appears in our catalogue. It is the largest gap in our Viking inventory and it has been put to our data supplier.

What we do sell today is Europe — Viking Heimdal and her 206 departures on the Rhône, Viking Kari and her 193 on the Seine — and Viking Mississippi in North America.

Our Viking River Cruises advisors confirm in writing the exact fare, the inclusions and the applicable conditions before any booking, in line with Quebec consumer protection rules and participation in the compensation fund for travel agency customers.

    Frequently Asked Questions

No. Three concordant checks on 25 August 2026 show her absent: no departures with us, absence from the Viking roster, absence from the master list.
Twelve, according to the master list verified ship by ship. It is the company's second basin after Europe, by a wide margin.
The sister-ships carry 82 guests to 48 crew, or one crew member for every 1.71 guests. On a European Longship it is 3.58.
Yes, two. Viking Ra carries 52 travellers and 55 crew; MS Antares 62 to 75. There are more people serving than people served.
None. The densest in the Royal Caribbean fleet, Harmony of the Seas, runs around 2.38 guests per crew member.
No, it is a structural difference of format. A 52-berth ship does not work like a 190-berth one, and it shows at the first meal.
Not today. None of those twelve ships appears in our catalogue. It is the largest gap in our Viking inventory, put to our data supplier.
Because a catalogue that names its own gaps is more useful than one that pretends to be complete. And because you can call an advisor to check.
Our sources do not establish it, and we publish no hypothesis on that point: a plausible but unverified account would only be copied elsewhere.
No. We have no departures to sell on her and the line no longer lists her in its published fleet.
Europe, with 70 pages, and Viking Mississippi in North America. Viking Heimdal offers 206 departures on the Rhône, the fullest calendar in our catalogue.
Viking Kari, with 193 departures. The Seine ships are not Longships: they measure 125 metres and carry 168 guests to 46 crew.
Because the name still circulates, and because it lets us explain what the line operates today and what we do not yet sell.
Through three independent instruments: departures in our own catalogue, the roster the line publishes, and a master list verified ship by ship.
In writing, before booking. AquaTerra Travels follows Quebec consumer protection rules and participates in the compensation fund for travel agency customers.
